John J. Kurucz Jr.

John J. Kurucz Jr. 81 of Washington died Monday, January 20, 2025 in his home. He was born in Washington on August 29, 1943, a son of the late John J. Sr. and Josephine Bova Kurucz. He was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School. He worked for McLean Trucking and then for Beth Energy Coal Mine, from where he retired. John was also a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard stationed out of Canonsburg. He was Roman Catholic by faith. Mr. Kurucz was a member of American Legion Post 175 of Washington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. On July 25 1969 he married the love of his life Carolyn Piatt Kurucz with whom he has shared over 54 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother Lawrence (Linda) Kurucz; niece, Katy (Brian) Hryniewich; great-niece, Alison Hryniewich; and great-nephew, Tyler Hryniewich. Deceased in addition to his parents are an infant brother and nephew Kevin Kurucz. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Nichol Funeral Home 1873 East Maiden Street Washington where funeral services will be held on Friday January 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
