Joseph Ronald "Ronnie" Wonsettler, 87, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
He was born on October 5, 1935, in Scenery Hill. Joe grew up on a dairy farm, was active in 4H and FFA, and raised champion Hampshire hogs. He learned the value of hard work by becoming successful in his career with Eighty Four Lumber. Joe worked there for many years, retired, then went on to work at Nemacolin Woodlands for a couple more years. He later retired to his beloved farm in Greene County and to his hunting cabin with his beagles. A true farmer, he was most content raising his Hereford cattle, planting fields of corn, rye and Timothy, and baling that hay in the hot summer sun. He was most happy riding his tractor with a little smile. He also loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing sports and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Joe was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glyde.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Wonsettler; and his brother, Richard Wonsettler.
Surviving are two sisters, Shirley Rankin and Lynn Parros; sister-in-law, Norma Wonsettler; a brother, Charles; two sons, William (Joan) Wonsettler of Mt. Morris and Jay (Donna) Wonsettler of Moundsville, West Virginia; a daughter, Bonnie (Jim) Puckey of Finleyville; grandchildren, Joe (Jenna) Wonsettler, Sam Wonsettler, Megan (Jason) Sonson, Jeanette (Randall) Legg, Amanda (Bryant) Poland, Eliza Wonsettler, Lily Wonsettler, Grayson (Annie) Wonsettler, Jake Wonsettler, Samantha (Ryan) Hohn, Megan (Austin) Hoffman, and Kristina (Casey) Walton; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Jocelyn, Jaeger, Landon, Adalynn, Lenex, Millie, Morgan, McKinley, Austin, Wyatt, Savannah, Madison, and Dylan.
