Logan Dawso Obituary

Construction Mechanic Second Class, Logan James Dawso, United States Navy, 24, of Zelienople, formerly of Peters Township, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Oxnard, California. He was born February 15, 2001, in Pittsburgh, the beloved son of Christopher James Dawso of Lawrence and Kelley Lynn Glaneman Dawso of Zelienople. Logan was a graduate of Peters Township High School in the class of 2019 and immediately fulfilled his lifelong dream by joining the United States Navy on July 3, 2019. He grew up intent on becoming a police officer or joining the military, even collecting autographs from police officers and military personnel. Logan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping, and was a musician who played the guitar and piano and was Catholic by faith. He was a hockey player in high school and was a member of the Predators Hockey Team in Castle Shannon. He had been a member of the Young Marines and laid wreaths at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies during the Christmas season. He attended States Police Youth Week and was a proud flag carrier. Petty Officer Dawso had been in his second hitch with the Navy signing up for an additional five years in July of 2024. Logan was a Construction Mechanic Second Class Seabee, who was an expert crane mechanic with the Navel Construction Group ONE in Oxnard, California at the time of his passing. He will be missed by his Chocolate Lab Smokey. In addition to his parents, left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved siblings: Brandon, Hunter J., Sarah M. and Hallie S. Dawso; his paternal grandmother, Janice Dawso (the late Joseph Dawso) of Venetia; his maternal grandparents, William and Barbara A. Montgomery Glaneman of Pittsburgh; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, among countless friends and military brothers and sisters. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, September 26.
