Margaret Reihner Obituary

Margaret Louise "Peggy" "Mags" Reihner, 75, of Florence, Ariz., passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, in Banner Ironwood Hospital, Queen Creek, Ariz., following surgery. She was born October 29, 1948, in Washington, a daughter of the late Nell Meredith Montgomery and Hugh F. Montgomery. Growing up, Peggy would often be found at one of her late aunt's homes, Margaret Dunlevy, Lydia Galley or Bernice D'Alessandro, playing with her cousins, Lydia and Jimmy D'Alessandro. They were dubbed "The Three Musketeers". A graduate of Trinity High School Class of 1966, she formed lifelong friendships and was a faithful alumni. Peggy made a vacation returning for the five-year reunions. The last one she attended was the 55th. After relocated to Tucson, Ariz., she attended the University of Phoenix. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1984 all while working full time. Peggy's career in healthcare began at Tucson Medical Center. Her experience and skills took her to St. Joseph's Mercy of Macomb, Mt. Clemens, Mich., and Baptist Health Systems in San Antonio, Texas. She was very proud of her hospital operational skills and grateful to be highly recruited in her field. At the beginning of her career, she met her dearest friends, Virginia and Lloyd Dempsey. Forty-nine years later their bond remained strong with Peggy retiring in their community. Retirement in 2018 included a very active social life. She enjoyed Lady Putters, line dancing, Bunco and her favorite, Trival Pursuit. Steeler games, DooWop specials and listening to the Eagles were a priority. Peggy shared her thoughts about her hard times and felt they helped shape her successes in life. Ralph Waldo Emerson must have had her in mind when he coined the phrase, "A Life Well Lived". Peggy is survived by her sister, Cheryl (Dan) Verona of Monroe, N.C.; a brother, H. Forest Montgomery of Washington; nieces and nephews, Nicole (David) Greer, Dante Verona, Gabriella Greer and Kai Greer; and her chosen family in Florence, Ariz., Virginia and Lloyd Dempsey, Karla (David) Nelson-Berryman and Carol Nelson. A celebration of life is planned for October in Florence.

Peggy was a classmate for my four years at Trinity. Biggest memory was sitting in class getting big laughs with her, before the class began. Enjoyed seeing who could be the funniest. So glad I knew her. My deepest sympathies to her family and special friends.

Peg & I met in ninth grade, we graduated in the same class & she was my sister-in-law for a few years. Even though many miles separated us we kept in touch through the years. I now have an empty space in my life without my friend until we meet again.
