Mary Pogany Obituary

Mary Lou Pogany, 81, of Baldwin, passed away quietly, surrounded by family, Monday morning, July 25, 2016.
She was born February 9, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James Albert Prophater and Elizabeth Jenkins.
After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1952, she worked as a secretary at the school.
On November 6, 1954, she married her true love, Joseph Stephen Pogany, who survives. They celebrated 61 years of marriage.
She was an avid reader, who loved puzzles and playing Scrabble. If the Pirates were playing, you could be sure she was watching the game. She was a second shift supervisor at South Hills Computer Center in Large. Over the years, she held several jobs typing and keypunching while raising her six children.
Of everything she did, she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Family was always most important to her.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her daughters, Shirley Grayson (Patrick) Bonazza, Linda March (Ed) Nagy and Debby (Chris) McSwiggen, and sons Raymond (Cheryl) Pogany, Wayne (Lori) Pogany and David (Jenn) Pogany.
She was a loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren, Geoffry (Jody) Grayson, Amanda (Aaron) Spangler, Kathy (Jimmy) Radcliffe, Ronnie (Ashley) Pogany, April March, Leah (Pete) Calabria, Michael Pogany, Shawn McSwiggen, Tyler Pogany, Shane Pogany, Owen Pogany and Garrett Pogany. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Jimmy Radcliffe, Jaycee Radcliffe, Amelia Grayson, Hadley Grayson, Eva Spangler, Natalie Spangler, Genevieve Spangler, McKenzie Pogany and Madison Pogany.
There will be a private viewing for immediate family only. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, in Baldwin Community United Methodist Church, 5001 Baptist Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. All are welcome to attend.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to your family during this difficult time. I hope the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring much comfort. Just knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Dear Pogany Family,
May the hope in Gods word outweigh the grief you feel at this great time of great loss. 1st,Thessalonians 4:14 says " For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus."
May the entire Pogany continue to be comforted through Gods word.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mums passing. I'm praying for you all that peace would shroud you just like her hugs would when you were young.
Praying for you,
Crystal (Mcswiggen) Caccamo and family

My dear Aunt Mary Lou is now in glory, in the presence of our great God and Savior, Jesus. It is so sad that she has left us, yet, she now has no more pain. We sorrow, yet rejoice for her, that she can now breathe deeply, and freely, in that blessed place. To my Uncle Joe, such a great man, may you be comforted. I send my condolences to my cousins. Though I live far away, you are always in my heart. Love, Leslie.
