Maxine Christopher Obituary

Maxine Hagar Christopher left this life to go home Sunday, August 5, 2018.

She was born May 24, 1943, in Washington, a daughter of the late Paul Max Hagar and Enid Patricia Good Hagar.

On January 9, 1960, she married Harold DeWayne Christopher, who was born and raised on a farm in Eighty Four. He preceded her in death December 24, 2011.

After raising their children, Mrs. Christopher went to real estate school and worked with FFV for a while. For approximately three years, she worked as an operator with Washington Answering Service in Houston. Next, for eight-and-a-half years, she worked as a dispatcher, scheduler and driver for GG&C Cab and Bus Co. Her last job before retiring was as a dispatcher for Green's Cab Co. of McDonald and Fort Cherry Ambulance.

Mrs. Christopher had many friends she met while co-owner and operator of The Gathering Place, located in the Christopher Building in Washington, along with other rental properties she, her husband and family members owned and operated.

Being raised on a farm, her favorite place was always outside with nature. Her later life was brightened by her love of birds and flowers and all things she could do with or observe of these.

Mrs. Christopher was a member of Apostolic Faith Chapel.

Surviving are three children, Michele L. Christopher of Washington, Jason DeWayne Christopher (Carla) of Washington and Alicia M. Bellew (Brian) of Ohio. The family was blessed with seven grandchildren, Tiffanie James (Christopher), Kyle Huff (Brittney), Jonah Christopher, Noah Bellew, Ethan Bellew, Arabella Bellew and Brian Bellew, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Eva Jean Sabatasse (the late Harry) of Burgettstown, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Melinda Lee Christopher, who returned to her Lord approximately four hours before her birth April 2, 1962; a very special brother, Robert Lane Hagar (Rose Ann); and two sisters, Delores Lorraine Baldwin (Herbert) and Janice Elder.

The later days of her life were blessed by having the gift of sharing the companionship and care of David G. Smith, a wonderful gentleman from Avella.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 10, with brother Allen Jeffries officiating. Burial will follow in West Middletown Cemetery.
