Nancy McCann Obituary

Nancy Brownlee McCann, 91, passed away peacefully, in her home, Sunday, August 17, 2025. She was born February 15, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of the late Williard and Alta Brownlee. Nancy was a graduate of Washington High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, Richard McCann. They were married 70 wonderful years prior to his passing in 2023. Nancy was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church, where, during her childhood she loved to sing with her lifelong best friend, the late Sally Dulaney Rocks. In Nancy's younger years, when her children were in school she worked as a dental office assistant. Then later on, she worked with her husband at their Montgomery Ward catalog store, which became McCann Sales. Before her retirement, she was employed as a sales associate at Lang's Department store. Nancy, known as "Nana" to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved cooking dinner every night for her family, especially Sunday and holiday dinners. Nancy was always the happiest in her home, with her family around her. Nancy is survived by her beloved daughter and caregiver, Lynn Ware of Washington; grandchildren, Kristin (Jose) Ramirez and Lauren Ware; great- grandchildren, Lucas Ramirez and Ryleigh Moore; sisters-in-law, Linda Peffer and Marilyn (the late Thomas) Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her two sons, Richard "Rick" and Gregory McCann; her brothers, Williard, Jack and Robert Brownlee; and her sister, Lois Brownlee Power. The family would like to thank OSPTA Home Health and Hospice for the care and support that they gave to Nancy and Lynn, during Nancy's final days of life. Funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude's Research Foundation or the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh.

I knew Dick McCann from working together. He always spoke very highly of his wife Nancy. He was lucky to have such a wonderful wife to share life with. RIP
