Patricia Louise Conklin Hrutkay passed peacefully in her sleep Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Born October 21, 1931, in Waynesburg, Patricia lived a remarkable life defined by family, faith, and friendship. She was a loyal friend, and above all, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Pat attended West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, W.Va., where she excelled in history and English. She later also graduated from Allegheny General Hospital School of Medical Technology. After college, she worked at Waynesburg Hospital and later at Charleroi Hospital before leaving the workforce to begin the most rewarding chapter of her life, starting a family. In 1953, Pat married Charles "Chuck" Hrutkay, the boy she had met at Joe's Dairy Bar. Together, they shared 59 years of love and partnership and raised three children. In addition to her three children, Pat had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, her pride and joy, who absolutely adored her. Pat and Chuck made their home on the family farm in Coal Center. Summer evenings often found children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren gathered on the back porch after a day of tending to 4H animals in preparation for the upcoming Washington County Fair. Stories from the past were shared, laughter filled the air, and Pat was in her favorite place - surrounded by family. Raised Methodist, she attended church faithfully throughout her life, from childhood through her 90's. Being a matriarch in her church community was a role she deeply treasured. Respected, cherished, and loved were words often used to describe what Pat meant to Grace Methodist Church. Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles Hrutkay; her parents, John and Belva Conklin; and siblings, Wilma Conklin Doty, Joseph Conklin, John R. Conklin, Jr., and Dr. James Conklin. She is survived by her three children, Douglas "Doug" Charles Hrutkay, Mark Jonathan (Janey) Hrutkay, and Kim Marie (Curt) Kreisler; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Brian) Wright, Kasi (Levi) Taylor, Aaron Hrutkay, Zachary (Gabrielle) Kreisler, Olivia (Buck) Chutz, Max (Malina) Kreisler, and Rachel (Cole) Kirschner; along with five great- grandchildren, Mason Wright, Brielle Taylor, Brock Taylor, Brooks Kreisler, and Jane Marie Kirschner. Pat's kindness and devotion to family will remain an enduring inspiration to all who knew her. Friends are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 9, in the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 10, with Pastor Ken Custer officiating. A procession will follow to Sacred Heart Cemetery for a Committal service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests your consideration of memorials to Grace Methodist Church, 420 California Drive, Coal Center, PA 15423.
