Ralph Shawley Obituary

Ralph Richard Shawley, 68, of Vestaburg, passed away in his home on Friday, December 3, 2021. He passed after a long battle with brain cancer.

He was born May 7, 1953, in Ligonier, a son of late Llyod and Clara Telford Shawley.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Carol Drayer Painter Shawley with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

After graduating from Ligonier Valley Senior High in 1971, he served as a medic in the in the US Army. He was honorably discharged in 1974. He retired from the Washington County Health Center in December of 2015 after more than 20 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, reading, woodwork and his favorite holiday was Halloween.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepchildren, Elizabeth Ann Meyer (Jack) of Lansing, Mi, Robert Painter of Bentleyville, Mark Painter (Rachel) of Beallsville, and Sara McVicker (Ron) of Vestaburg. Step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren, Barbara Jean Painter (Tommy and Joey), Rebecca Berdine (MaKenna, Eithan, and Carson), Victoria Painter (Natalie), Heather Painter, Katherine Painter, Ashlee Childs (Mya and Lyncoln), Mark Painter Jr., Michael Noakes, Tynan Noakes (T.J., Laney, and Freddie), Avario Faieta, Kerrigan Faieta (Leah and Julian), Michael McVicker (Bane, Vera, and Ronan), and Samantha Jenkins (Oliver and Spencer).

He is proceeded in death by stepson William Joseph Painter, stepdaughter, Josephine Goldi Painter, stepgrandchildren Sean Michael Painter and Maranda Marie McVicker.

Service will be private with immediate family only.
