Robert E. "Bob" Anderson, 72, of Washington, died Sunday, April 2, 2023, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1950, in Wheeling, a son of the late Donald L. Anderson and Helen Grager Anderson Bonar.
Bob was a 1968 graduate of McGuffey High School.
He worked as a truck driver for Camalloy and Brownlee Trucking.
Outside of his work, Bob was an extremely active member of the community. He served on the Avella School Board for over 20 years. He also served on the board of Western Area Career and Technology Center, formerly Vo Tech.
He was a member of Washington Community Theater and Old Schoolhouse Players for many years. Among his favorite roles were Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" and Ben Franklin in "1776". He was also a "dancing dad" in several Chartiers-Houston High School musical productions. He was also a member of the Washington Festival Chorale.
Bob was an avid woodworker and car enthusiast, however, his greatest passion was spending time with his two grandsons.
On June 1, 1974, he married the love of his life, Joyce Hunter, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kelly (Ali) Yalfani, of Towson, MD; two brothers, Charles Anderson of McMurray, and James (Anna) Anderson of Westerville, OH; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Anderson; and two grandsons, Alex Robert and Eric Hossein Yalfani.

I did not know Bob, however after reading his obit, I almost felt I did know him. I had done Community as well as legitimate theatre in my 20s, and everyone in theatre knows Tevye in " Fiddler" is one of the greatest musical roles a guy could have, along with Harold Hill in "The Music Man". I´ll bet he was an excellent Tevye, just by looking at his pic.

So very sorry for your loss, Bob was the kind of person that once you met him, you never forgot him. He was a wonderful man, great friend and the best of Classmates. May he have the peace he so richly deserves. Rest In Peace

The kind of man that will always be remembered. You taught me many of my favorite sarcastic things to say.

So many people are going to miss Bobby for so many reasons. His bubbly personality, his infectious laugh, his bib overalls, his acting talents, and so much more. But I will remember him for his creative ability to cheat playing the eraser game in grade school! Haha!! Seriously, Bobby was a real friend to the McGuffey class of 1968 and will be missed!
With sadness and sympathy,

Bob was a member of the First Christian Church in West Alexander for most of his childhood. My three sisters and I remember Bob as a jovial person, love to laugh and make others laugh. May God grant him eternal peace.
