Robert J. Bankey Sr.

Robert J. Bankey Sr., 78, of Newton Falls, Ohio, formerly of Blainesburg, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, in his home.
He was born December 23, 1936, in Crescent Heights, a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Malinsky Bankey.
Mr. Bankey attended California High School and served with the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.
For more than 30 years, he was employed by General Motors of Lordstown, Ohio, last working in their hard trim department. He retired in 1996 and was a member of United Auto Workers.
He was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Newton Falls.
Mr. Bankey enjoyed gardening and yard work.
On November 25, 1967, he married Helen V. Clelland, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, William A. Bankey (Nicole) of Newton Falls; a daughter, Pauline R. Peaco of Lake Milton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Renee Frey (William), Joshua Peaco (Melissa), Zachary Peaco, and Presley, Chase and Katelyn; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Frey; two sisters, Helen Wintczak of Chicago, Ill., and Marion "Babe" Bizet (Tom) of Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, Robert J. Bankey Jr.; three brothers, Andrew Bankey Jr., Victor Bankey Sr. and John Bankey; and two sisters, Doloris Griffeth and Pauline Farkas.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where a prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, June 19, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Brownsville, with the Rev. Jerome Botsko, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Hancock-McCune-Horn American Legion Post 705 of Centerville. A parastas service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
