Robert Wayne Betarie Sr.

Robert Wayne "Percy" Betarie Sr., 74, of Cecil, formerly of Lawrence, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, in his home, with family by his side, following a long battle with colon and pancreatic cancers. It was a battle about which he never once complained.
He was born September 26, 1942, a son of the late Margaret Polochak and Steve Betarie. He was a dear brother of Steve (Donna), Ronald (the late Linda) and Michael (Cynthea).
Surviving are his loving wife and caretaker, Anna Marie Signorini Betarie, with whom he shared 52 years; a son, Robert Jr. of Cecil; a granddaughter, Dawn (Nick) Gottschalk of Cecil; a grandson, Justin Robert (Christine Blaka) Betarie of Cecil; and three great-grandsons, Noah, Nicholas and Benjamin Robert Gottschalk, all of Cecil.
Deceased are two infant brothers, John and William.
While aboard the USS San Pablo (AGS-30) from 1961 to 1966, he served as ship barber. Mr. Betarie was a master blaster for 38 years. His last three years of employment were with Valley National Security.
Mr. Betarie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his absolute selflessness and constant willingness to give and help others. He loved to putzy in his garden and yard with his best friend, Buddy.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 10, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Arrangements are entrusted to Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.
