Robert Lawrence Loar

Robert Lawrence Loar, 87, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
He was born November 4, 1927, in Butte, Mont., a son of Albert Lawrence Loar and Nell McGahn Loar.
Mr. Loar was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, attended University of Pittsburgh, and served in the U.S. Navy.
He worked as en electrician at McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg.
Mr. Loar was an avid golfer, enjoyed the outdoors, and was a fan of the Steelers and Pirates. When younger, he coached football and baseball.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
On February 18, 1950, he married Vivian Verderber, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Loar (Melody) of Nederland, Colo.; a daughter, Leslie Loar of Washington; a grandchild, Thadius Loar; a great-grandchild, Norah Loar; two sisters-in-law, Mary Warnick and Helen Abel; and nieces and nephews Mary Jo and Bill Wolfe, Judy Buckingham, Mark and Marcia Campbell, Bob and Linda Warnick, Ron and Rita Warnick, and additional nieces and nephews who live out of state.
Deceased is a sister, Dolores Zwick.
Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, September 26, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
