Robert Merashoff, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
Robert "Moky" Merashoff was born May 22, 1949, in New Eagle, a son to the late Robert and Stella Kowaliszyn Merashoff and brother to the late Linda Merashoff.
He graduated from Bentworth High School in 1967 and continued his education at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. Moky started his career at the Bethlehem Mine in the 84 Portal and worked there for 22 years as a longwall boss and a fire boss, but he found that his true passion was driving a school bus for Bentworth School District for more than 17 years. Mark Twain once said, "Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Moky found this to be true because he truly loved every second of driving the school bus.
Moky's other passions and enjoyments included fishing every chance he had, spending quality time with family at the lake house, and spending every Sunday afternoon at the Tradesmen's Inn, where he always had a cold one waiting for him at his dedicated seat at the bar. He was also a member of the CFU St. George Lodge #354 of Cokeburg, Pa and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Emery Merashoff; two sons, Robert (Emma) Merashoff and Mark (Candy) Merashoff; three grandchildren, Jordon (Breanna) Merashoff, Madison Merashoff, and Robbie Merashoff; and one great-grandchild, Oaklyn Rose Merashoff.
Deceased in addition to his parents is a sister, Linda Merashoff.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main St. Beallsville. Interment will be private. Online guestbook and personal condolences may be accessed at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Cyndy, the boys, and family. It greatly saddens me to learn of the passing of my friend. We go back 50 years to our early mining days when we were just boys in the coal mine. Over the years as we grew more and more closer as friends he became more like brother to me. I realized how fortunate I was to have a friend as good as Moky in my life. He is truly a wonderful person. I know the void that we all are feeling will never be filled again, but I know that we will see him again on down the road. Until then my brother, R.I.P, I'll see you when.
