Ruth C. Plunkett

Ruth C. Plunkett, 86, of Houston, passed away peacefully in her home, Saturday, October 25, 2025. She was born September 14, 1939, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Paul Cheslock and Margaret Dragan Cheslock Bodnar. Ruth grew up in Meadow Lands and was a 1957 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, where she later worked in the administrative office for over 40 years. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands. Ruth had a love of felines, rescuing many throughout her life. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and a group of girlfriends from high school. On July 25, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, William R. Plunkett. Bill passed away less than 24 hours before his beloved wife on Friday, October 24, 2025. Surviving are a son, Bill Plunkett and his wife Marcy of Marianna, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents, are her sister, Donna Carroll who died October 19, 2025; and her stepfather, Anthony Bodnar. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Interment will be private. The family wishes to thank Mary Beth Potts and her staff at Angles for the Elderly for their exceptional care of Ruth.
