Samuel R. Windows

Samuel R. Windows, 83, of McDonald, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in South Hills Post Acute, Bethel Park. Sam was born February 25, 1942 in Indiana, a son of the late Samuel L. and Susanna Hensel Windows. Mr. Windows worked as a manager in the lumber industry for 51 years. He was the most loving, faithful, caring man. Sam was a devout member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish - St. Alphonsus Church, where he worked as its maintenance man for many years. Sam became friends with everyone he met, and he always had a story and a song to share with everyone. Sam sang in barbershop quartets and to everyone he could. His beautiful singing voice filled the room and always left you speechless. Faith and family were the two most important parts of Sam's life. He loved his Lord and knew the power of prayer, as he and his wife prayed together daily. His family showered him with the love that he in return gave them. He was a proud husband, father and especially Pap Pap. He loved being an active part of his family's life and was so honored to watch his family grow into who they are today. Surviving are his loving wife, Carolyn A. Zarnick Windows; children, Ryan Windows, and Alan (Neyrissa) Bodnar; grandchildren, Alyssa, Jake and Evan Bodnar, Angela Windows, Brittany Spyers; great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and his sister, Priscilla Kalgren. Along with his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his son, Eric Windows; and siblings, Ellen Lamar, Delores Shrum, Joan Parsons and William Windows. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, in St. Isidore the Farmer Parish - St. Alphonsus Church, McDonald.
