Thomas Brownlee Obituary

March 12, 1953 - November 15, 2024 Thomas R. "Thom" Brownlee passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 71, in his South Strabane Township home. He was born in and spent his entire life in Washington. He was predeceased by his father, Robert "Bob" R. Brownlee of Washington. He is survived by his mother, Mildred "Millie" Jackson Brownlee; his wife of 49 years, Janet Beagle Brownlee; his daughter, Janell (Bill) Blasco; son, Ryan Brownlee; his two loving grandchildren, Delayna and Blake Blasco; his two older brothers, Pastor David (Irene) Brownlee, and Dan (Joan) Brownlee; his sisters- in-law, Linda (whom he called Lou) Platt, and Carole (whom he called Caroley) Beagle (Mike Zeiner). He will also be missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews; along with his dear friends, golf buddies; and his dog, Teddy. Thom was an avid golfer; his golf buddies would say, "Thom could birdie from anywhere". His daughter bragged proudly to everyone that her Daddio could have been a pro golfer. Thom spent all of his Wednesday nights throughout his life with his close golf friends at his favorite Chippewa Golf Club League. He enjoyed laughing, joking, grilling, enjoying seafood and telling amazingly hilarious stories, as he was the best storyteller! His wit and wisdom gave him a genuine and all around charm, which made him loved dearly by all who knew him. He especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pens, the Pirates and music. You could always hear him humming or singing a song! Thom spent many of his summer vacations with his family at the beach in Ocean City, Md. and swimming in the ocean riding in on the waves. He loved traveling with his wife and family in his conversion vans to numerous destinations. He had a gentle and child-at-heart soul with a special love for his grandchildren, laughter, his pool, and the love of animals. He loved wearing funny slogan t-shirts, Hawaiian shirts and sandals. You could find him greeting strangers with his dog, Teddy on their daily walks together at the Tanger outlets. He made life truly magical for his children and then all over again when his grandchildren were born, whom he loved so dearly. Thom proudly worked for Bell-Atlantic/Verizon for 30 years as a technician. He could be seen in his earlier years climbing telephone poles, then later during his career in a bucket truck. He was also a member of the First Lutheran Church of Washington. He never dwelled on a problem and always focused on the solution. Thom was a self-made creator/inventor and the "Mr. Fix-it" of all things! He requested to be cremated and wanted all to remember him and celebrate his life at a wake. A celebration of his life is currently being planned and will be published and held at a later date. Rest in Peace Daddio.

Tommy, I have thought about you often through the years. Lee and I couldn´t wait to go to Washington to be with our cousins and especially go to our Grandfather´s farm. It was always You, Me, Pam and tag along Terry. Wonderful memories. I know your family will miss you so much. It´s the hardest on the rest of us left behind. God Speed! Love, Char

Tom was my best friend in high school. We got to know each other playing our last year of midget league football wear we played side by side, we were 12 years old at the time and became great friends through hi school. Tom was a very smart and talented and a great athlete. We had many wonderful adventures together, so sorry to hear of his passing, I'll always remember Tom Brownlee.
