William Miller Obituary

William W. "Bill" Miller, 79, of Beallsville, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, in Washington Hospital.
He was born August 17, 1937, in Beallsville, a son of the late Wilbur W. and Eleanor Shriver Miller.
Mr. Miller was a 1956 graduate of Ellsworth High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1958 to 1964.
For 36 years, he was employed as a truck driver by Fox Grocery, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Teamsters Local 491, Uniontown.
Mr. Miller was a member of Masonic Lodge 237, F&AM, Beallsville, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Pittsburgh. He was also a member of American Legion Hancock-McCune-Horne Post 705, Centerville, and was presented with their 2014 Distinguished Service Citation for dedicated community service.
He was always active in civic affairs and spent his entire lifetime serving his community and the surrounding area. He served multiple terms as Mayor and Councilman of Beallsville Borough and was one of the founders of Beallsville Civic Association, serving as president for several years. He was instrumental in establishing the Beallsville Honor Roll and was responsible for placing more than 700 flags on the graves of veterans buried in Beallsville Cemetery.
Mr. Miller was a former member and officer of Richeyville Volunteer Fire Department. For many years, he served as president of Bethlehem-Center Kickoff Club. In 2004, he received the Man of The Year Award from Bethlehem-Center Education Foundation.
In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and lawn mowers in his garage, gardening, going to Big Bear Lake Campground and especially spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 25, 1958, he married Margaret Ramsey, who survives. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Tara Fabian (Richard) and MarKay McKee, both of Vestaburg; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Miller (Kristy), Rebecca Babeji (Justin), "Scooter" McKee (Jamie), Jason Mackey (Andrea), Emily Mackey (Joe), Alexander Miller, Max Bogol (Brooke), Paige Bogol, Michael Letham, Savannah Letham (Nate), Jennifer Henry and Diana Mae Fabian (Cullen); nine great-grandchildren, Lola, Landon, Lacee, Jacob, Zoey, Scarlett, Adelaide, Kamden and Kendra; three sisters, Dorothy Lynn (Jack) and Ann Luketich, both of Beallsville, and Sandra Rush (John) of McDonald, Ohio; a brother, Barry Miller (Mary) of Scenery Hill; a sister-in-law, Marian Miller of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, William Warren Miller Jr., who died April 4, 2010; two brothers, Paul and Larry Miller and wife Dolores; and a brother-in-law, Frank Luketich.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 7, with Joshua Sabatini officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery, with military rites accorded by American Legion Hancock-McCune-Horne Post 705, Centerville. Masonic Lodge 237, F&AM, Beallsville, will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
