With deep sadness we announce the passing of William "Bill" Allen Robinson, 76, of Burgettstown, on Sunday, September 12, 2021, after a brief illness.
Bill was the proud father of David (Becky) Robinson of Mt. Lebanon; and bossy big brother to Susan Cook of Burgettstown. He also leaves many dear friends who will greatly miss him.
In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his wife, Mary, and sister, Cheryn Whalen.
Bill was born November 20, 1944, in Burgettstown, to Lee and Ruth Robinson, the oldest of 3 children. Bill graduated from Union High School in 1962 and joined the US Air Force, where he proudly served for 8 years. While stationed in Rome, N.Y., Bill met his future wife, Mary, at a local dance. It was love at first sight.
After receiving an honorable discharge from service, Bill returned to his hometown and worked for LTV Steel as a millwright for 30 years until his retirement in 2001.
Bill will be fondly remembered as always having a smile on his face and a story on his lips. He enjoyed dancing, and was even voted Best Dancer of his senior class. A bad knee may have ended his dancing days, but Bill still enjoyed getting out and socializing whenever possible. He could often be found holding court at the local McDonald's, where he enjoyed lively conversations or simply having a cup of sweet tea while he read a good book.
Bill will be interred at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, in the National Cemetery of Alleghenies.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the VA Hospital of Pittsburgh for their care and assistance during Bill's hospital stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Friends of the VA Pittsburgh Fisher House at https://www.pittsburghfisherhouse.org/.
