Charles graduated from Tarkington High School. He joined the U.S. Army and after two years, he was honorably discharged when his father passed away in order to help his mother with his younger siblings.

He began working for Hughes right out of high school as an electrician for 40+ years. He married Judy Smith in 1972. They had two sons, Bryan and Brad. Following a long friendship, Charles married Donna (Sharp) Upton on Feb. 14, 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Robert Houston Starkey, older brother, James Newell Starkey, and older sister, Mary Jane Juarez.

God saw that you was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly we would not ask him to stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
Uncle Charles you will Forever be in Our Hearts! Your memory will Forever live on.
We Love You!
