COOK, ALBERT HUGH, 98
Ft. McCoy - Albert Hugh Cook, 98 of Ocala/Ft. McCoy went home to be with his Heavenly Father, early Sunday, May 27, 2007. Born in London, England and immigrated to America in 1936, he became a US Citizen in 1942. Hugh moved to Ocala from Gainesville, FL and then to beautiful Ft. McCoy. He attended Queen's University of Banking in Canada. A Banker for 3 years in Lewes, England and 3 years in Canada, he taught English to Spaniards and Spanish to the Americans in Spain. He was a Salesman for HH Robertson in PA, arriving in Coral Gables as manager in the 70's and retiring there. He graduated from the Florida International University in Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in the 70's. Hugh will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, caring, kind, helpful and accepting husband and father who was devoted to his family and was there to give them support and strength, never asking anything in return. As a Christian, he was always enjoying his friends in WPBC and Ft. McCoy First Baptist Church. An avid tennis player, enjoying the games to the age of 94 when he needed to give the game up. He also enjoyed bicycling, hiking, and traveling after retirement. Hugh was a strong, honest gentleman with a fine sense of humor. Hugh is gone from our presence, now his spirit will always be with us giving inspiration and guidance in our lives. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Susan Cook, and preceded in death by Frances Cook, wife of 50+ years and mother to his 4 surviving children, Audrey (Gordon) Garmire, PA, Richard (Rosario), FL, Charles (Memma), WA, and Dr. Philp (Salie) Cook, FL. Seven grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, half-sister, Katherine L. Balbi, London, England, nephew, Anthony Balbi, Luxumbourg, 2 step-children, Michael (Susan) Jones, Jeanneen (Darryl) Cannon, 7 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren and loving nephew Charles Hodge. A Memorial Celebration for Albert Hugh will be held Saturday, June 2 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ft. McCoy, Fellowship will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County. ROBERTS FUNERAL HOMES BRUCE CHAPEL East in charge of arrangements.
