Anne Saunders Obituary

SAUNDERS, ANNE THERESE
Ocala - Anne Therese Saunders was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on August 18, 1927 to Charles Jerome and Mary Elizabeth Cronin growing up strong in her Catholic faith and steadfast in her desire to serve her country. She became a Navy Flight Nurse after obtaining her RN designation In Boston, MA and was commissioned as a Lieutenant j.g., on active duty during the Korean War. Anne cared for the war wounded on evacuation flights from Southeast Asia to San Francisco. There, she met and married Robert E Saunders, a naval aviator subsequently promoted to the rank of Commander, USN. Anne raised six children while stationed at 5 duty stations across the nation during 30 years of Robert's military service settling briefly in Valdosta, Georgia and then in Ocala, Florida in 1976. Surviving children are: Mary Colleen Brown, Fort Myers, FL; Robert E. Saunders, Jr. and David Charles Saunders of Ocala, FL; Anne Maureen Maynard, Lewisvlle, NC; Margaret Ellen Saunders, Tampa, FL; Catherine Therese Burton also of Ocala, FL "Nana" was dearly loved by nine grand children: Elizabeth Blonde, West Palm Beach, FL, Joseph Maynard and Robert Brown, Tampa, FL; Kelly Maynard, Athens, GA; Keith Brackett, Jimmy and Katelin Burton, Carly and Allison Saunders, all from Ocala, FL. and her fondest prayer was for future blessings upon her eight great grand children; Gerald and Mary Beth Campbell, Sawyer Bracket; Sarah and Rachael Blonde, Lane and Ansley Maynard and Violet Pryor. A Funeral Mass will be said on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.

To Anne's family,
My mother, Alberta Donovan, and myself have only known Anne for a very brief time but have come to love her and her children. Our hearts are hurting for all of you for your great loss. Anne was a very special and loving person. We will miss her, her laugh and hearing about her favorite foods. You are all in our prayers.
