Ocala - Celestine Johnson went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2014. Celestine (Sal) Johnson was born on October 30, 1942 to the late Eddie and Willie Mae Robinson in Ocala, Florida. A graduate of Howard High School, Class of 1961, she attended Hampton Junior College where she met her husband of 48 years, Philip Johnson Jr. She went on to travel with her husband while he served in the United States Air Force and raised her family. Upon retirement, Celestine returned to her beloved Ocala and embarked on her greatest role in life, becoming a grandmother. Celestine enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Celestine leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Madelyn McFarquhar and Dr. Philip Johnson (Patricia), grandchildren; Carleigh Meehan, Zachary McFarquhar, Colin McFarquhar, and Philip Cayman Johnson, siblings; Delores (Marvin) Clark, Alice (Ken) Rozier, Patricia Robinson, Herman (Maddie) Johnson, aunt; Ruther Lee Holliman, mother in law; Ruth Johnson, in laws; Frankland (Carolyn) Johnson, LaDonna Johnson James (Gail) Johnson, Gwen (Robert) Jordan, Martha Stevens, Glenn (Loretta) Johnson and Robert Johnson.
Funeral Services for Celestine Johnson will be on Saturday November 15, 2014 at 11 am, St.Paul AME Church, 718 NW 7th Street, Ocala, Fl. Wake service will be held at The New Cunningham Funeral Home, 434 NW Martin Luther King Jr Ave, Ocala, Fl on Friday November 14, 2014 from 6pm to 7pm. Visitation will be held at The New Cunningham Funeral Home on Friday November 14, 2014 from 10 am to 5pm. Interment will be on November 17, 2014 at Florida National Cemetery at 11 am.
