Dear Betty, Suzanne, Emmett and Monty, I have been so saddened by the sudden passing of Dan. My heart has been so heavy and I will miss knowing that Dan isn't with us anymore. He certainly was an incredible man and one who always told it like it was and he always made us laugh! I will miss knowing that he isn't playing golf on his golf days. I know that was the way he wanted it. Love to you all, Betty Jayne

My deepest sympathy is extended to the entire Whitehurst family as you deal with the sudden loss of your husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. My earliest memories of him were at the First United Methodist Church, especially as a member of the Epperson Memorial Sunday School Class. He and Mrs. Betty hosted parties for the members and their families at their home on Blue Run. For many years, Mr. Dan provided the sausage for the breakfast served after the Community Easter Sunrise Service. He truly lived the vows of membership by being "loyal to the United Methodist Church” and "faithfully participating in its ministries by his prayers, his presence, his gifts, and his service." He will be missed by many, but his kindness and generosity to everyone will always remain in our hearts.
