GEORGE MONROE
Ocala - George Monroe Youmans, Jr., 90, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Ocala, Florida. George was born in Waycross, Georgia to Margaret Lavina (nee Waldron) Youmans and George Monroe Youmans, Sr. on December 16, 1926. Like his brother Donald, George was a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a Heck of an Engineer. He was trained as an airborne ranger in the US Army, and provided 40 years of service to the US Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Colonel in 1974. George retired from the US Army TRADOC as an Operations and Research Analyst after 40 years of civil service.
George is survived by his son, Bryan David Youmans of Orlando; his grandchildren, Isabella Lois Youmans, Tamie Helena Youmans, and David Rowan Youmans of Orlando; and nieces, Donna Haber of Woodbridge, VA, Debra Youmans of Ocala, and Darlene Plyler of Austin, TX.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 2:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted with HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES-Timber Ridge. Sentiments may be left online at
