ORAM, HARRY EDWARD, 93



Ocala --- Harry Edward Oram, 93, was born on November 7, l914 in Phoenix, New York and died at his residence in Oak Run, 11668 SW 72nd Circle, Ocala, FL. on Friday, May 9th. Mr. Oram served in the military from l942 through l967. He was trained at Ft. Sill, sent to England upon graduation and was assigned to European Headquarters in London under General Eisenhower. When Gen. Bradley's headquarters was formed, he was assigned to the 12th Army Group where he commanded the Group Interrogation Center. It was his responsibility to obtain high-level information by interrogating under-water swimmers, line crossers, and varied enemy spies. Mr. Oram graduated from Oswego State University in 1935 and taught several years prior to military service. He received graduate degrees from New York University and studied at Syracuse University. While in the Army Reserve from 1959 through 1967, he taught in the Army Intelligence schools at Ft Rodman, Ft. Dix, Governors Island and Ft. Meade. Following military service he taught many years at Jordan-Elbridge Central School and West Genesee Central School near Syracuse, New York. Mr. Oram is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Tamara (Stephen) McCammon of Silverthorne, Colorado, Rhonda (Stanley) King of Cherry Valley, New York, and Sharman (William) Fitchett of Rhinebeck, New York; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and dear friend and companion of 34 years, Warner Malson. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 19th at 11 AM, at the Ocala West Methodist Church, 9330 SW 105th St, Ocala, Florida. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of Marion County, 3231 SW 34th Ave, Ocala, Florida 34474-8489. Please include that the gift is in memory of H. Edward Oram. Or to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301. Please include Memorial Gift in honor of Lt. Col. H. Edward Oram.
