James DeVore Obituary
JAMES B. (JIM), 73
Ocala - James B. (Jim) DeVore, age 73, passed away suddenly on April 19, 2016. James was born to Altha Mae Seiler and Alexander (Bunce) DeVore on November 30, 1942 in Ocala, Florida. He grew up on a farm in Reddick, Florida and graduated from Reddick High School. After high school he ran a garage/filling station with his brother, John, and farmed with his father and uncle for five years. He then attended Central Florida Junior College and the University of Florida, graduating with Honors in 1970 with a degree in Accounting. He became a CPA and worked as an auditor for a few years and then was Comptroller for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was married to Jane Helms and lived for twenty years in Largo, Florida. He eventually moved to California and worked for Waste Management there.
James was raised in the Presbyterian Church and later in life became a born again Christian who loved to spread the gospel. He was a Scholar of Biblical Studies. In retirement, he enjoyed the climate in Redwood City, California.
Survivors include his twin brother, John A. DeVore; sister, Altha Louise Long; nephews, Lex and Brent Long; sister, Ollie Jayne Toole; nephew, Russ; and niece, Leanne Endsley.
A graveside service will take place at Millwood Cemetery in Reddick, Florida on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Thornwell Home for Children at 302 South Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325 or www.thornwellhome.org.

I recently learned of Jim's passing and would like to extend my condolences to the family. Jim was a good man who lived a hard life but he persisted in following his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and no one could ever doubt that. I loved him and fully expect to see him again some day. I am comforted in knowing that he is deliriously happy in Heaven with his Jesus.

Dear Devore family, James was a class mate @ North Marion (Reddick). James was always a very sweet & kind person. I know James loved the Lord very much & we will see James in heaven. That is a comfort. I know his memory & knowing where he is a comfort to the Devore family. God bless you all!

James was not only Famiy but an awesome Friend. He had a passion for life as well as a great love for his Lord that he shared with all he met. We will cherish our wonderful memories. May God continue His comfort to all as we walk through this transition without James.
