Jimmie Cason Sapp was born on October 6, 1921 in a little town of New River, Florida, in Bradford County. She had paternal and maternal half-brothers and sisters, but Jimmie was the only child of her mother (Elizabeth Alvenia Tedder Bryan Cason) and father (James Lafayette Cason). She attended schools in Alachua and Levy Counties, graduating as Valedictorian from Williston High School. Right after graduation, during WWII, she worked at the Shell Plant in Archer manufacturing shell cases for artillery. She worked as a store clerk in Raleigh, a telephone operator in Williston, and ran the Post Office in Raleigh. During 1949 she worked in Tallahassee as a secretary during the time when Florida passed the first state tax and when the No-Fence law was passed. She then went on to the Ocala Vocational school and became a licensed beautician. She owned The Polly Ann Beauty Shop in Gainesville for many years and then moved it to Raleigh where she still kept her license and continued styling friends and family up until she was 90. Many of her customers became her extended family whom she loved very much. On June 9, 1962, she married her soulmate, Woodrow Wilson Sapp, at age 40, and the years that they had together were the happiest years of her life. She has been a member of The First Baptist Church of Archer for almost 60 years. She passed away peacefully at home in Ocala which was her home for the past 10 years with her great niece and nephew. She is survived by many, many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. She will be greatly missed by everyone that met her.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Archer Baptist Church, 16870 SW 137th Avenue, Archer, FL 32618 (352-495-2225) at 2:00PM with a visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow the service at the Orange Hill Cemetery, 3240 NE 180th Avenue, Williston, FL 32696
