Ocala - John "Jack" Edward Lewerenz, 90, was born March 19, 1921 to John and Meta Lewerenz in Des Plaines, IL and died on August 14, 2011 in Ocala, FL at his home. Mr. Lewerenz was a veteran of World War II with the Navy Seabees in the Pacific. He was a builder/developer in the Chicago area until 1959, when he moved his family to Ocala. He was a securities broker for A.M. Kidder & Co. (later Reynolds Securities, Inc.) during the 1960s, but returned to construction and remodeling until retiring in his mid-80s. Mr. Lewerenz was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks. Mr. Lewerenz is survived by his wife of 64 years Marie, daughter Lynn Hayes of Powder Springs, GA, son Eric Lewerenz of Ocala, and Bruce Lewerenz of Thomasville, NC, as well as four grandchildren: Kelly Goff, Jonathan Lewerenz, Christopher Lewerenz, and Timothy Lewerenz. In celebration of Mr. Lewerenz's life, a service will be held in his honor at First Presbyterian Church of Ocala on Sunday, August 21st at 12:30 p.m. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity of Marion County, FL. Cremation arrangements handled by Florida Cremation, Ocala.
