Leif Solvik Obituary

SOLVIK, LEIF A., 53 Dunnellon - Leif Solvik, age 53, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at MRMC. He was born in Norway, March 7, 1953, and moved to Dunnellon ten years ago from Hollywood, FL. Mr. Solvik was an Air Force veteran service in security detail with the Strategic Air Command (SAC). He was very proud of his Viking heritage and loved riding his Harley and his horse. Beloved husband of Lynda S. Solvik, devoted father of Tora Lee Solvik, Leir Eric Solvik, Shawna Ray Solvik, grandfather of DJ, loving son of Raymon and Tora T. Boman, loving brother of Torrie Hollis, Roy Solvik, Lars Solvik, and uncle of Derek Hollis. Leif is now on the bow of his Viking ship, forever searching the horizon for new adventures. Interment Florida National Cemetery. HIERS FUNERAL HOME, 910 S.E. Silver Springs Blvd.

He will forever be missed. There isn't a day goes by I wish he was still with us. He was my father first but he was so much more than that. He was my best friend, my mentor, my wisdom and my hero. He left way to early. I guess Odin had more important plans for him on a different realm. There are just so many times I wish he could be here just to have a conversation with him. There was always comfort in this sleeping giant.

How lucky i was to have known you leif, and how happy i was that you finally found the love of your life, lynda and had the happiness you SO deserved for a few short years. Sometimes its hard to understand why god takes the special ones first and leaves the "thorns" behind that have nothing to give others in life, like you did. I'm grateful for our last visit and that I had the opportunity to know Leif and see my mother's happiness with him. It was "easy" between them and that is a wonderful quality of a deep and abiding love between people. It's a gift that can never be taken, or transformed-only held close to the heart and appreciated.

I was shocked to hear about Leif beeing ill. Even more shocked to hear the sad news when my dear brother passed away. We lived so far apart and therefore rarely met. But the memories are dear to us.

The lot of us here in Norway feel greatful for the time we had together. I'm especially greatful for the time you, Roy and I spent together, in Bergen, Haugesund and on the sailboat. The UFO site, the viking houses and museum. Kjetil's cabin... We had a good time, didn't we Leif?

We'll always remember your big heart Leif, my mom Britt misses your good hugs.

All our love goes to the family left with tons of greef and memories. Positive focus, stay strong vikings.

We were very sad to hear of Leif's passing. We never got to meet his new wife Lynda but heard that she is a very sweet lady that made Leif happy, and thats whats important. To Leif jr.
