MENDEZ, MARCELLA CHRISTINE, 88
Belleview - Marcella Christine Mendez, 88, died at her residence on August 21, 2011. She was born in Iroquois, South Dakota and moved to this area from Springfield, IL 25 years ago. She attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview and was a homemaker. She loved to garden, dance, was a great seamstress and had traveled to all 50 states. In her early years, she was a teacher in a country school house. Mrs. Mendez is survived by her daughters, Marsha Gmeiner, Owings, MD, Shirley Lapicola, Flower Mound, TX; son, Steve Mendez, Long Beach, CA; sisters, Genevieve Matson, Gainesville, FL, Lucille Logan, South Dakota; brothers, Myron Baye, South Dakota, Harry Baye, California; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Paladio Mendez. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 11528 SE Highway 301, Belleview on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ocala.
