Phillis was more than a landlord to me over the past seven years, she was a dear friend and an inspiration. Seldom have I met someone with such compassion for others as Phillis. She did everything in her power to selflessly help others. Phillis B. DeSimone will hold a very special place in my heart. She was an angel who walked amongst us and everyone who knew her was blessed to have known her.

Dear Clay and Russ, I was so saddened to hear about the loss of your Mom. Phillis was one of the sweetest ladies, and my Mom, Judy Graham, was close friends with her throughout elementary and high school. I have this vivid memory, when I was probably 5 or 6, of Mom and Phyllis carrying me and Clay to the movies in Tuscaloosa. They took us to see Field of Dreams with Sally Field. It was boring for us because we were so young, but I know Mom and Phillis probably wanted an excuse to go see it. I know how hard it is to lose a parent, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families as you remember the many years of happiness your Mom brought to yours and so many others' lives.

Dear Phillis, I am remembering you today, remembering your beautiful smile and the friendship we shared from grammar school through high school and beyond. One of my deepest memories is of the day I stood beside you in Southside Baptist Church at the age of 12. You sensed that God was calling me to accept him. Without a word, you simply touched my arm and it was all that I needed to step forward and express the emotions that were flooding my soul. I remember days on the playground, how pretty you were as a majorette, how you borrowed my glasses in class because you couldn't see, how we shared the joys of having children who were friends. I remember the laughter and joy our close little group of friends shared. I remember seeing you a few years ago on Christmas Eve at Fairhope Methodist Church and meeting your husband. I remember how happy you were. I know that your beautiful smile is shining from heaven onto all of us. You are not gone, my friend. You will live always in my mind's eye and in the wonderful memories we shared. May God bless your famiy as they face each day without you.

I had the pleasure of working with Phillis many years ago at E-ONE. I have never met a nicer person in my life. My condolences to her family. God took a good one home, just too soon.
