COMER, SHARON KAY, 66
Ocala - Sharon Kay Comer, 66, of Ocala, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012.
She was born to the late Maynard and Betty DeVore, on September 20, 1945, in Sacramento, CA. Sharon graduated from high school and nursing school in Memphis, TN, and began a career in nursing in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. She retired in 1992.
She married Mark Comer in 1966, and they lived together in Powder Springs, GA, before relocating to Florida in 1991. Sharon was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was passionate about genealogy and thoroughly researched her family lines. Sharon loved to travel, and traveled through much of the United States in her motor home with her husband. She even traveled full-time for three years. She also took seven cruise trips with her husband in her lifetime.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Mark Comer, III; one son and one daughter and their spouses: Christopher and Elisa Comer of Jonesborough, TN and Laura and Matthew Vitale, of Ocala, FL; her mother, Betty DeVore of Ocala, and her sister and spouse, Linda and Steve Horton of Tampa. She also is survived by six grandchildren, Carley, Nick, and Jake Comer, Jonesborough, TN, and Gia, Christina and Landry Vitale of Ocala.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2012, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, is handling arrangements.
