ARLINGTON - Adam M. Harkin, 46, of Arlington, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, with the Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Burial will take place at Taylorsville Cemetery in Arlington.
Adam Max Harkin was born Sept. 30, 1977, in Manchester, the son of Max Douglas and Patricia Ione (Wessels) Harkin. He graduated from Starmont High School in the class of 1996. On Aug. 10, 2002, he was united into marriage to Nancy Lynn Riker at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington. Adam farmed in the Arlington area. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington. Adam enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATV rides, four-wheeling and his kids' sports events.
Adam is survived by his wife, Nancy Harkin of Arlington; three sons: Alexander, Andrew and Jacob Harkin all of Arlington; mother, Pat Harkin of Cedar Falls; father, Max Harkin of Arlington; sister, Angie (Tim) Wright of Oelwein; brother, Jon (Anna) Harkin of Monroe; mother-in-law, Carol Riker of Boston, Mass.; three sisters-in-law: Barbara Riker (Jeremy Johns, lifelong family friend) of Kalamazoo, Mich., Kristin Riker-Coleman (Erik Coleman) of Duluth, Minn., and Linda Riker of Detroit, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Margaret and Bob Wessels; paternal grandparents, Howard and Virginia Harkin; and father-in-law, Chris Riker.
