Anna Ryan Obituary

OELWEIN - Anna Mae Ryan, 92, of Oelwein, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Oelwein Health Care Center, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Paul C. McManus officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday (today) and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, where there will be a 4:15 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. parish scripture service on Friday.

Anna Mae Haas was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore "Tade" and Elsie (Ferring) Haas. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Waukon in the class of 1947. Anna Mae began her working career at J.C. Penney in Waukon. Anna Mae was united in marriage to Paul Edward Ryan on Sept. 19, 1950, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. They moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas for two years while Paul was serving in the Army. There they were blessed with a daughter, Barb. Anna Mae and Paul moved to Oelwein in 1953 where they were blessed with two more daughters, Mary and Jane. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Anna Mae worked in Oelwein at Modern Cleaners, Preston's Building Center and Greenley Lumber Company.
Anna Mae was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Rosary Society and the Oelwein American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Anna Mae is survived by her husband of 71 years Paul Ryan of Oelwein; three daughters: Barb Fischer of Green River, Wyoming, Mary Ryan of Cedar Rapids and Jane (Bartt) Carney of Centerville; four grandchildren: Rich (Amy) Fischer and Rob (Carrie) Fischer all of Green River, Wyoming, Breckyn Carney and Brynlee Carney both of Centerville; 10 great-grandchildren: Ryan Fischer of Green River, Wyoming, Austin Anderson, Carter (Cedar) Anderson, Chance Anderson all of McKinnon, Wyoming, Brooklyn Fischer, Steffen Fischer, Jon Fischer, Everlee Fischer, Karli Fischer and Tucker Fischer all of Green River, Wyoming; great, great-grandson: Cree Anderson of McKinnon, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Leonita Bresnahan and brother: Vince Haas.
