Phyllis Blomme Obituary
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein with the Rev. Joshua Schunk officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the funeral home Thursday.
Memorial contributions can be directed to Grandview Health Care Center: Activities Fund or VFW National Home For Children – Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

Phyllis Irene Brauer was born Sept. 28, 1931 in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Irene (Allesse) Brauer. She graduated from Eaton Rapids High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Henry J. "Hank" Blomme on Nov. 4, 1950 in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. They moved to Oelwein where Phyllis was a homemaker and employed at Bell Telephone, Oelwein Furnituremart, Hallmark Cards and Pamida.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Phyllis was a devoted mother to her children Deborah Frank of Hazleton, and Stephen (Suzanne) Blomme of Gold Canyon, Arizona. She took great pride in her 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Sherri) Hamilton, Katie Frank, Kelli Frank, Jason Blomme, Justin (Alexa) Blomme. Phyllis is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and
two sisters, Barb (Al) Minte of San Diego, California and Sally (Don) Farr of Newhall, California.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Betty Jennings.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding staff at Grandview Health Care Center for offering compassionate care, friendship and support to Phyllis in her final years.

Aunt Phyllis was a gracious woman who blessed her family with love. I was fortunate to have her in my life both as a child and an adult. Her elegant manners, caring and warmth were extended to all. May happy memories comfort all of the Blomme family. We were all better for having Phyllis in our lives.

This lovely lady will be missed dearly. I loved serving her at the care center. Loved helping her when I could. Phyllis was very independent, and that was something I respected. I pray for strength to her family, and know that we all loved Phyllis so much at the care center.

My sincere condolences to the Blomme Family. Aunt Phyllis was such an amazing lady whose focus was"Family First",carrying a calm demeanor in always moving forward. Her love and nurturing was given freely to her extended family and friends. She always kept an open door policy. I have such fond memories of all the family activities and she was an incredible role model.I know Aunt Phyllis is resting peacefully in heaven.Her calm and loving loving spirit will always be in my heart and many others.

Jan and I were sorry to learn of Phyllis's passing. We knew her when we shared membership in the ISP troopers and families in Oelwein and in District 10. She was a nice lady. Our condolences to her family.
