Born: July 5, 1959 in Geneva, Illinois
Died: February 2, 2023 in Madison, Wisconsin
Barbara A. Wubbena, 63, of Shannon, IL passed away Thursday February 2, 2023 at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born July 5, 1959 in Geneva, IL to John and Agnes (Boerner) Schlick. On May 31, 1980 she married Lloyd Wubbena at White Pines Forest State Park in Mt. Morris, IL. Barbara was a receptionist at Paws and Claws Veterinarian Clinic, where she loved working around animals and gained high praises for her job performance. She also worked alongside her husband growing sweet corn on the farm, among other duties such as running the grain dryer and hauling corn. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Forreston, IL and Leaf River United Methodist Church where she served on the Ad Board. Barbara's hobbies included fishing, crocheting, and she had a great love for animals, especially cats, horses, and rabbits which she raised. She was known as a jokester and loved practical jokes. Barb was a fun loving, upbeat, and loving person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. She is survived by her husband Lloyd of Shannon, IL; brother Fred Schlick of Wheaton, IL and his two children Conor (Fiancé Marika) Schlick of Washington D.C., Dr. Brian (Ali) Schlick of Tampa Bay, FL; sister Pauline (Rich Carr) Miller Carr of Freeport, IL and her two children Alicia Wagner of Freeport, IL and her two children Ava and Mya Wagner, Adam (Whitney) Miller of Baileyville, IL and their two children Cole and Emmett Miller; her sister-in-law Faith Worrall of Pearl City, IL and her two children Pat (Carrie) Worrall of Channahon, IL and their son Rory Worrall, Kevin (Alissa) Worrall of Bettendorf, IA and their daughter Keira Worrall, deceased brother-in-law David Wubbena and his two children Chrystal (Shane) Watson of Phoenix, AZ and their daughter Anna Watson, and Heather Wubbena of Phoenix, AZ and her daughter Evelyn Wubbena, and his step-daughter Larita (Chuck) Hulke of Shannon, IL and their three children; Amber (Zach) Corson, Ashley (Cassie) Kroll, and Nicholas Duitsman. Preceding Barbara in death are her maternal and paternal grandparents, parents, two brother-in-law's Bob Worrall and David Wubbena, and sister-in-law Mary Schlick. A visitation from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday February 9, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday February 10, 2023 at Leaf River United Methodist Church in Leaf River, IL with Pastor Sung-Eun Kim officiating. There will also be a visitation at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery in Forreston, IL. A memorial has been established in Barbara's memory for First United Methodist Church in Forreston, IL and Leaf River United Methodist Church in Leaf River, IL.
