James Shrader Obituary

James C. Shrader
Born: June 23, 1945 in Mt. Morris, IL
Died: September 21, 2025 in Polo, IL
James C. Shrader, 80, of Polo, passed away on September 21st, 2025 in his home.
James was born on June 23rd,1945 in Mt. Morris, IL, the son of Max and Hazel (Miller) Shrader. He spent his childhood in the Polo area and attended school here. While still in his early life, he met Renae Rock and they fell in love. They were wed in Sterling, IL on August 28, 1970. Together they had two children and stayed in the area to build a family and make a home.
James is remembered by his family as a kind and simple man. He was a devoted farmer and did honest work. He had farmed the same land here in Polo since he was old enough to do so and for as long as he could. When James wasn't hard at work, he relaxed by watching sports; all of them. He could regularly be found sitting on the sidelines of the Polo Marcos games and was supportive of his grandchildren's athletic endeavors. He was also a fan of all of Illinois' home teams including the Sox, the Bulls, the Fighting Illini and of course the Bears. James was also a veteran of the National Guard and in his youth was proud to help his community and country during natural disasters and other times of turmoil.
James was survived by his devoted wife, Renae Shrader; loving daughter Amy (Jay) Schmidt of Polo, IL; sister Evelyn Meyer of Polo, IL; gradchildren Alivia and Owen Schmidt and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Stephen Shrader and brother Donald Shrader.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo, IL, with Rev. Scott Ralston officiating. Memorials can be made directly to the Shrader family. Cremation rites will be accorded. Please visit www.polofamilyfuneralhome.com to send condolences
