Kim Duncan Obituary

Kim I. Duncan
Born: September 14, 1957
Died: October 8, 2025
MT. MORRIS, IL - It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kim I. Duncan, who left us suddenly on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 at the age of 68.
Kim was born on September 14th, 1957, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of John and Marion Thompson of Mt. Morris, IL. She attended Mt. Morris schools, and graduated in the class of 1975. She married and began her career at McGregor's Magazine Agency, where she met lifelong friends.
She began the most cherished job of her life as a mother, with the birth of her daughter Kristin in 1985 and son Kraig in 1989. She held various other positions at Kable News, Woods Equipment, and KSB Hospital throughout her career. She retired in 2016 to become the caregiver for her granddaughter, Kirin. She was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church.
Kim lived a life of kindness and love, truly a one-of-a-kind. She found joy in life's simple moments, family dinners on Sunday, visiting her parents' cabin, nature, keeping up with friends, baking, matching outfits, decorating her house and evenings with her fiancé Tim. She enjoyed daily walks around town in which she chatted with everyone she passed by, reading her daily devotional, attending church, and visits with her grandchildren. She was known for her baked sweets that she shared at family gatherings and with friends. Her gentle spirit, warm hugs, and ability to see the good in all things will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Marion Thompson; grandmother; Lola Duncan; and aunt, Barb Satterfield.
She is survived by her children, son, Kraig (Stevie) Duncan of Polo, IL and daughter, Kristin Alexander (Mitch Mann) of Columbus, WI; brother, Jack (Suzanne) Thompson of Mt. Morris, IL; sister Tammy Knott of Denver, CO; sisters, Wendy Hamer of Carthage, IL and Beth DeSchepper of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Miranda and Aubrey Merritt, Beau Perrine, Kirin Alexander, Taylor Mann, Gracie and Jameson Cox; her fiancé, Tim Cox, and many dear relatives and friends.
The family would like to express our thanks to the Mt. Morris ambulance, police and staff at OSF Saint Katherine Medical Center in Dixon, IL.
A visitation and funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th, 2025 at Disciples United Methodist Church 102 Maple Ave. Mt. Morris, IL 61054. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., with te service at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery and luncheon at the Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that monetary contributions be made to the Methodist Church.
Her love was deep, one that will continue to be felt in the hearts of those she touched.
