Died: October 28, 2021 in Dixon, IL
Robert Louis Christ, age 72, passed away on October 28, 2021 in KSB Hospital, Dixon, IL. Robert was born on November 8, 1948 in Elgin, IL; the son of Edward Karl & Marilyn Alice (Chapman) Christ. He graduated from Larkin High School class of 1966, Elgin Community College, he is a graduate of an Armorer's course from Trinidad State Jr. College and he passed an Accident Investigators course from NIU. Robert married Janice Zimmerman on March 22, 1969 in Elgin, IL. Robert served the citizens of Elgin as a Police Officer & Police K-9 Officer for many years retiring on January 2, 2001.
Robert was a member of the Blue Knights Police Motorcycle Club, Lifetime NRA member, Police Benevolent & Protective Association, Elgin Police Pension Board, and the North American Police Work Dog Association.
Robert is survived by his wife: Janice Christ, Oregon, IL; children: Edward (Kelly) Christ, Belvidere, IL and Angela (Michael) Getzelman, Hampshire, IL; grandchildren: Jenna, Ryleigh, and Piper Christ, Belvidere, IL, Willa and Caroline Getzelman, Hampshire, IL; sister: Cynthia (Christ) Nelson, Leisure Lake, IA.
Robert is preceded in death by parents, and sister: Karla Christ.
Memorial services will be held on November 6, 2021 at 12:00 PM in Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral Home, Elgin, IL with Rev. Mark Lund officiating. There will be a private family burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held on November 6, 2021 from 9:30 AM until service time in Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral Home, Elgin, IL.
Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL, PADS of Elgin, and/or Puppies Behind Bars.

Our sincere condolences in the passing of Officer Christ. He was an incredible policeman who served with integrity and duty. The city of Elgin was a much better city having him on the police force. I served in Records Division and Sarah served as a CSO, often encountering Officer Christ who treated his coworkers with respect no matter where they served within the police department.
I also worked with his sister Karla Christ at U-46 transportation department for 23 years. She was also a dedicated hard worker, and a good friend. It was an honor to know and work with them both.
My daughter and I pray they both rest in eternal peace and happiness, they are both greatly missed.
