Alfred Traylor Obituary

Alfred Harwood Traylor, age 95, of Roanoke died Friday, October 1, 2010.

He was preceded by his wife, Margaret Denson Traylor of Roanoke. He is survived by a half-brother and his wife, Winston and Annette Traylor of Asheville, N.C.; a half-sister, Paula Traylor Grady of marietta, Georgia; his departed wife's nieces, Betty Bradley of Roanoke, Virginia, Kebbie Saunders of Rock Mount, Virginia.

He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, attended Lynchburg College and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was employed during World War ll by the Glenn L. Martin Company in Baltimore, Maryland as a service engineer in charge of technical manuals and training for military and commercial aircraft. After a brief enlistment in the USNR he was called to establish and manage a technical publications department at Goodyear Aerospace Corporation in Akron, Ohio; a subsidiary of the Goodyear Tire Company. After 25 years of service he retired and moved to Roanoke, Virginia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roanoke.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the First Baptist Church. Private burial services were held Monday, October 4, 2010 at Spring Hill Cemetery, Lynchburg, Virginia.
