Caroline Cotton Obituary
Born in Piqua, Ohio, Caroline lived most of her life in the Akron area and the past 15 years in Tallmadge. She retired from MRDD in 2007 with 20 years of service. For over 30 years Caroline was a member of McNaughton Baptist Church (until it closed), serving as Financial Secretary for most of that time, and also in the choir and Women's Group. In 2009 she became a member of Tallmadge United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the church choir and Women's Group.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Caroline is survived by her husband, Jeffry; sons, Andrew Cotton of Shawano, Wis. and Fred (Paula) Cotton of Akron; sisters, Katie (Ernie) Ellis, Dottie (Gene) Wagner, Josephine Gibson, and Bea Berry all of Piqua, and Donna Lange of Englewood, Fla.; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Berry of Columbus and Mike (Yuvona) Berry of Piqua; grandchildren, Madison and Conner Breedlove of Canton, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Rd., Tallmadge with Rev. Dr. Barry French officiating. Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle). Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial donations may be made to Tallmadge United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association, 4500 Rockside Rd., Ste. 440, Independence, OH 44131.

My Mom comes to mind every day. I miss my friend. Mom had things she dealt with every day, but she always strived to be extraordinary with an emphasize on fun. And gave thanks to God for all the blessings. I'm so glad for the wonderful years I spent with her! And rejoice because I know I will see her again.

I just want to let everyone know she was the most amazing grandmother anyone could ever have. i still cry myself to sleep this day. i miss her so bad. I feel like this is just a bad dream that i can't wake up from. i have never had someone in my life that has treated me so well and brought me in the family shes a very beautiful women and i love her to pieces!

I only knew Caroline for a short time. I cleaned the floors in her home. But, the first time I spoke with her I could tell she was a woman of faith who loved her family. I just learned of her passing and want to let you know that you are in my prayers. Our comfort as Christians is in knowing we will once again be together with those who have passed on.

Today at Caroline's funeral the minister asked for some to share a word or two that describe Caroline. Though I could talk for hours about all that she meant to me, if I summed to a word, it would be role-model. I knew Caroline for over 35 years and those years included 30+ participating with her at McNaughton St. Baptist Church, 4+ working with her at GenFed Federal Credit Union, and being a babysitter for Andy and Fred when I was 14. She and Jeff are my role models for living a Christian life both in church, in the work place, and in the home.
She was engaging to talk with, glowed with her love for Christ (and for her husband, and her boys, and Madison and Conner!) and talked frequently about all of those loves. She was so proud of her family and her two grandchildren. She was someone you could count on to be there at all the important times in life. She was dedicated and fun and thoughtful. She will be greatly missed.

I was saddened to learn of Caroline's passing. I worked with her for many years at MRDD, she was one of the first people I met when I started working here. Her smile and warmth and great personality will be missed.

Jeff, I'm so sorry about Caroline's passing. I'm Svea Vantuyl's niece and thought what you read at Merv's funeral was a very fitting tribute to him. How surprised I was to see that Caroline had died. Even though we didn't know you, I remember Svea often mentioning you both through the years. May God comfort you during this difficult time and give you great comfort in knowing she is with Him!

Jeff and family, I was saddened to learn of Caroline's passing. What a wonderful person she was and how much we always enjoyed sharing with the two of you when my late husband Don and I lived in Akron and went to McNaughton St. I remember the good time I had sharing with you at the 75th reunion in 94' I trust God will give you strength and comfort in these days and wrap you in his love.

Dear Cotton Family,
We are so sorry for your loss! Even though we don't know you very well, it was always a pleasure to see your family when we would come to McNaughton Bapt. Church (during our visits with Grandma & Grandpa Vantuyl). Mrs. Cotton was a very pleasant person to talk with. She was always so upbeat and friendly. Mr. Cotton, when we just saw you a couple weeks ago at Grandpa's funeral, I never thought that her illness would end like this. We will definitely be praying for all of you at this time!! May the Lord wrap His loving arms around you all and give you a comfort and peace that only He can bring.

Jeff, Andy and Fred, my heart cries with you, but my soul rejoices that Caroline is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Caroline was a part of my life for twenty years. We had so much fun in our Women's Group at McNaught Street Baptist Church. Caroline will be missed. I know that God will be there to help you thru this time of healing.
