I ran into Erroll at the 30 year high school reunion. I was very saddened and shocked to hear of Darrell’s passing. I last saw him at the 15 year reunion. We all met when we were 15 years old. Darrell and I had some insightful conversations and I was not surprised at his career path. He was always very encouraging and inspiring. I am very sorry for the family’s loss. My father passed 1 ½ years ago. As hard as it has been, I have noticed that many good things have happened to me since. Even though I have worked for them, I somehow feel that Dad had a hand in orchestrating my good fortune. I feel that Darrell is another one of my angels.

Dear Family,
I am writing these words in an attempt to somehow express our deepest sympathy and love for you all.
No one knows exactly how you feel during this time of transistion, even if we have travelled this pathway ourselves; for each experience brings different memories, different feelings of sadness as well as joy.
When I began to reflect on my own personal memories, I can remember when my family was going through the berevement process when my Grandmother passed away - It was Pastor Pounds and Pastor Isaiah who were there to offer support and concern for our family and for that we are forever grateful. I thank God for his life and for the opportunity to know him as a friend, pastor - man of God.
Just like he was there for us, we also will be there for you. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. We love you all!

To OUR Family,
Our hearts are heavy as we say good-bye to our friend, family, and pastor. We loved Rev. Isaiah and he loved us. He will be surprised to see that my mama beat him to the finish line. Remember they can't crown Him, until we get there. I don't know about all of you, but I just got another reason to go home. Let's get in good relationship with Jesus, get into the church, and get home.We love each one of you. This book could not hold all the stories of fun times we encountered with him, we will just hold them in our hearts. We will hold each other up before the Lord during our time of grief. God is still in charge. Rev. Isaiah is not gone, he is simply studying in another room.
Love Always

We are in deep sympathy for your loss of such a great man. Isaiah married us when the Pastor, who was to perform the ceremony, could not make it. Isaiah was that kind of person, wherever his services was needed he wouldn’t wait to be asked. He would just place himself in position to serve.

To the Isaiah Family,
Words escape me at this time, what can I say? You all know Darrell was special and I always considered him my special friend.
Our fathers were friends, therefore we were friends! Growing up at United, Jr. Deacons, Buds of Promise Choir! Going bowling, riding bikes (but of course I wasn't cool enough nor old enough to ride around with him or Erroll). Pathagerons (sp.) parties, Kent State, Omega Psi Phi, and my family finally ended up in the same apt. his family lived in at ABT in Nashville!
Thinking back reminds me of the first solo I ever sang at United, years ago. When we were all in those short gold robes :) I think it appropriate to just type out a few of the words:
"I made a vow to the Lord, I made a vow to the Lord. I promised him I'd go every step of the way! I made a vow to the Lord!"
Marcia, and all the family - I know Darrell made the vow and that should allow you sing through this time of sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Pastor Isaiah was a Christian and Preacher who cared about God's children. He had a heart to the underdog's of life. He made his company with the poor and afflicted and not the rich and powerful. On many occasions when no other church or no other preacher reached out to me, Pastor Isaiah did. He sought to affirm in me the gift of preach which he recognized that God gave me. I am forever indebted to Pastor Isaiah. He was my brother, my friend, and my pastor.
May God bless Sis. Isaiah and the kids.

To all of the Isaiah family,
I can't begin to tell you how saddened I am to hear of Darrell's passing. We, along with his brothers, grew up together in many ways.
I was with another friend, David Merrow, this evening when we received the news here in Georgia. Needless to say, we were both quite saddened to hear the news. We began to remember and share all of those wonderful times we had as kids.
The memories could fill volumes. It truly seems like just yesteday, we were playing cards together, joking about this and that. In a blink of an eye, 30 years have passed.
I can see Darrell and his twin brother like it were yesterday. The smiles, his infectious sense of humor, his talent as an athlete and as a man.
It will take all of us quite a while to adjust to this as will your family. We can all take comfort in knowing that Darrell was quite close to the Lord and that, will indeed, see him and the rest of us through this sad, sad time.
Knowing how Darrell lived his life as a man makes me entirely confident that the Lord has truly set his table to receive Darrell in his loving arms and that Darrell is now, truly at peace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as Darrell makes this transistion.
God Bless
