David Williams Obituary
As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Dave loved his family passionately. He enjoyed golf, Cleveland sports, nature, bible study and attending The Chapel. As a long time Copley resident, he spent his career working in the tire industry, with 38 years at Smithers Scientific Services.
Dave is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah; children, Tracy (Virgil) Whitmyer, Kristin (Nick) Bender, Eric, and Kathryn; granddaughters, Eva, Lucy, and Penelope; sisters, Susie and Pinky; and brothers, James, Teddy, Bob, and Ricky.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 25th at The Chapel-Green campus (1800 Raber Rd.) from 5 to 8 p.m., with a funeral service on Friday at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at www.scleroderma.org.

Deborah,
My son Derek (Chaplain, US Army) and I want to say goodbye to a charming and cheerful man. We both knew Dave at Smithers. Many thought a lot of Dave. That is how I called looking for him, unaware of his passing. May you and the children be comforted in the Lord.

Deborah, Tracy, Kristin, Eric, and Kathryn; That which you knew, others did, too: Dave had a strong arm for support, a willing hand to help, a kind word to encourage, his friendship continued the next time you met, and his "infectious" smile and chuckle linger even though he is gone. May our Lord continue to comfort you to learn and to know that one day you may join him in glory with our Lord Jesus.

Hold close all of the great memories of Dave who was such a gentle man. His gentle spirit will continue to be far-reaching to so many. I didn't know Dave well but I do remember him as a kindly, funny and smart person. I always got the feeling he was so proud of you all and that you made him very happy. Knowing that you gave someone a happy life must be a great comfort when their time comes.

Dear Williams Family, I wish to express my deepest sympathy. I have worked with Dave ever since he first joined the Engineer's Week Group Committee. I have enjoyed his presence and talking to him at these meeting and I will surely miss him.

Deborah & family, so many great memories of Dave... playing church softball & basketball leagues, his incredible portrayal of Jesus in our "Passion" play, and most of all...years of Friday morning Bible Study. Dave loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus, and read God's Word with great expression. Dave was a fun guy and a great man, and he will be missed. God will bless and help you all through this hard time. Dear Deborah and family,
I first met Dave in 1978 when I brought a bunch of Korean technicians to Smithers. I have played golf with Dave on various occasions and have always enjoyed his company.

Dear Deborah and family, I worked with Dave at General Tire and then again at Smithers. He always seemed to start out so serious but couldn't hold back the smile and then we saw the real Dave. That's how I'll remember him, as having a quiet sense of humor.

Dave's contagious smile and fun loving spirit will always be what we remember about him. His love for each of you was evident and he was proud of you. Dave excelled as a brother-in-law. Dave and I met when we both showed up the same day for job interviews at General Tire. We met a second time when we both started work the same day. Then we discoved that we both drove TR4s and had some great times, rooming together that year. What a great guy. He will be missed.

I am so thankful to the Lord for the precious time I had with Dave when we worked together at Smithers, and later when I interviewed him for his retirement article that I wrote for them. Kaye and I were so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Our heart felt sympathies to you and your children. Dave was such an active and energetic person before the illness. It had to be tough on him and you. We never said it, but Dave's kindness and helpfulness to us as neighbors was always much appreciated by Kaye and I. We will miss him greatly.
