Dianne Atkinson Obituary

Dianne Atkinson

Dianne Atkinson passed away March 30 at Hospice Care Center.

She was a lifetime resi dent of this community, was a teach er for Akron Public Schools for 15 years, and obtained a master's de gree in edu cation from the University of Akron. A licensed foster parent for eight years with the Ohio Youth Advocacy Program, she was a foster parent for 17 years with the Summit County Chil dren Services Board.

Preceded in death by father, Mr. Lonnie Atkinson Sr., and sister, Gloria (Atkinson) Woods, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Couch; adopted mother, Ruth Reese; sons, Petey S. Atkinson of Akron and Keith P. Atkinson (Troy) of Columbus; brothers, Lonnie Atkinson Jr. and Ronnie Hicks, both of Akron; sister, Wanda Yates of Akron; cousin, Donald Atkinson of California; and special niece, Debbie Dixon of North Carolina. Her best friends were Ruth Ann Scott and Melva Glass Foster, both of Akron. Dianne also leaves, to adjust to her ab sence, a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. SATURDAY at the Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home Chapel, Elder Richard Bradford officiating. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 772 Kensington Way. (Stewart & Calhoun, 330-535-1543.)
