Dorothy Mae Sawyer Morton was born July 24, 1923 in Kokomo, Indiana, the fourth child of Jason Alvin and Daisy Carrie Novella Sawyer. She married Clifford Smith Morton December, 16, 1951 and moved to Akron, Ohio, where she gave birth to two sons Clifford Stanley (wife Terry) and Arthur Thomas (wife Tess). After graduation from Akron University in 1959, she taught in elementary schools in the Akron Public School system for 26 years, retiring in 1989. She served in the music and children programs at the Original Church of God at 807 Coburn Street for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandchild, Erin Morton.

She passed from this life into the next May 27, 2009.

She is survived by two brothers, James E. Sawyer (wife Barbara) and Harold E. Sawyer (wife Lillian); one sister, Gladys L. Crawford; her two sons and their wives;, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 12 p.m. at Coburn St. Original Church Of God, 807 Coburn St., Akron, OH 44307, Elder Ayuba Maigari officiating. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at The Courtyard Marriott (Montrose), and condolences may be sent to 320 Euclid Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.
