Dorothy M. Ward

CLINTON -- Dorothy M. Ward lost her courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, July 12, 2007.

She was the most loving and caring person with a great sense of humor and the sweetest smile ever.

She was born in Barberton on March 28, 1927. She graduated from Barberton High School where she met the love of her life, James Ward. After working at Sun Rubber they lived in Kenmore and then Manchester. They were the best parents to five children; loving grandparents to 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James Ward; parents, Roland and Bertha McKenize; brother, Art McKenzie; grandson, Timmy Digman. Dorothy leaves behind twin daughters, Janice Pifer (Rodney), Judy Digman (David); son, Jim (Claudia, nee Nettle); daughter, Cindy Trophoff (Robert); son, Jeff (Diane, nee Grishkevich); grandchildren, Brian (Kristen), Dan, Shellee (Chad), Mindy, Amy (Tim), Katie (Nate), Becky, Jamie, Kevin, Christina, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Micah and soon to be born, baby Monteith. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Winnie Ward, Virginia Scheetz, Mildred McKenzie and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice, Sumner on Ridgewood and Dr. Walter Klatt for their support, care and love.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue, Barberton 44203, with Robin Hart officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 767 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Suite 3, Akron, Ohio 44319 or the American Cancer Society.
