Esther Geraldine (Wise) Crooks died on Nov. 8, 2006.
She was born in Mogadore, Ohio on September 12, 1918 to the late Chester and Jessie Wise. She resided in the Cleveland area for 25 years, and spent the last few years in Mogadore. Esther earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado, and was a wife, mother, poet, writer, reporter, and lover of the arts.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Russell Crooks and a son, Peter Crooks. She is survived by daughter, Colette Ferran; son, Duncan (Maggie) Crooks; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mario) Villanueva, Luc Ferran, Sabine (Ben) Gerhardt, Devin Crooks and Darren Crooks; great-grandson, Julien Villanueva; siblings, David (Julia) Wise, Ardath Wise, and Judith Brindel; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a true example of spirituality, kindness, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love to all. She will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 in the Sancta Clara Monastery, 4200 N. Market St., Canton, OH 44714. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sancta Clara Monastery, which played an important role in her life. The Reed Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
