Ethel Root Obituary
Ethel Lee Mathis Root of Myrtle Beach, S.C., previously of Wadsworth, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2018 at 91 years of age.
She was born February 17, 1927 in Nashville, Ga. to the late Riley 'Ruben' and Polly Mathis. Ethel retired in 1987 after 43 loyal years at AT&T. She loved to travel the world, but her heart was happiest when she was in the company of her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Root; her daughter, Jo Ann Bush and 10 of 13 siblings.
She is survived by siblings: Talmadge Mathis, Onus Mathis, and Vivian Merchant; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rebecca Reynolds; grandson, Rick Bush; and granddaughters: Amanda Doyle, Melissa Anderson, and Katy Reynolds among other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, 10 a.m. -12 p.m., at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home in Wadsworth with services to begin at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44333.
