Floyd Williams Obituary

Floyd E. Williams, Jr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on November 15, 2011. Born in Akron, Ohio on June 1, 1920, he grew up with his family, in the Lord's service, serving in several areas of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

(Reverend Floyd, Sr. and Blanche Williams, served the Nazarene Church in Christian ministry.) Upon graduating from Parkersburg High School, Floyd, Jr. later served his country, during World War II, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He and his wife, Clara Irene (Lockhart) Williams, lived in the nearby city of Joplin, Missouri. His most recent church membership was at the Mogadore Christian Church, Mogadore, Ohio. Floyd was a fifty-year plus member of the Wadsworth Masonic Lodge, Wadsworth, Ohio. He also served as Auxiliary Deputy Sherriff for Medina and Lorain Counties, Ohio. He was an avid sportsman in golf as also he achieved a hole-in-one, and in bowling he achieved a perfect game. Dad also coached baseball in Wadsworth and Elyria, Ohio and was an accomplished carpenter, personally building three homes.

Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Clara; father, Floyd Williams, Sr.; mother, Blanche (Dennis) Williams; sister, Beulah Cole; and brothers, Dennis and Claire Williams. He is survived by sons, Gregory Williams (Evelyn), Elyria, Ohio and Timothy Williams (Teresa Kitson) of Dunlap, Illnois; and daughters, LuWanda (Williams) Higgins (Eugene), Mogadore, Ohio, and June Marie (Williams) Tirpak (Rob), Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Todd (Michelle) Higgins of Mogadore, Kristopher (Carla) of Lakeland, Florida, Chad Higgins of Mogadore, Bret Williams (Lilly) of Chicago, Illinois, Stacy Williams of Columbus, Ohio, and Megan Tirpak and Jessica Tirpak of Raleigh, N.C.; great-grandchildren are Tyler and Madison Higgins, Mogadore, Ohio, Joseph Higgins, Lakeland, Florida, and Hazel Wren Holmberg Williams, Chicago, Illinois.

Floyd served many offices, during his lifetime (after World War II), with the Western Union Telegraph Company including Parkersburg West Virginia; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Sebring and Coshocton, Ohio; spending many years of service in Wadsworth, Ohio, and later Elyria, Ohio, with an additional assignment at Lorain, Ohio before retirement. Father retired with 36 years of total service to the company. He later joined the U. S. Steel Company, Lorain, for several additional years as an expediter.

A private memorial service is being planned, by the family, at a later date.
